CITY VISIONS JENA SEEKS VOLUNTEERS

The light- and science festival CITY VISIONS invites everyone to Jena, Germany, to explore the curatorial topic of ‘IN/VISIBLE CITIES’ in a vibrant light parcours. There will be a series of events throughout the festival from October 8th - 11th 2015 including interactive light installations and virtual new media art scenarios, artistic DIY-tech workshops, a symposium, short films and the Translocal Market, consisting in a light-innovation-campus and a Chinese Night Market. Here, Jena will be connected to its partner city Guangzhou / Panyu, China,  via new media art scenarios and opening up virtual windows for intercultural exchange.

Connecting Cities Artist Residencies @ Ars Electronica

We are happy to announce that our Connecting Cities partner Ars Electronica holds artist residencies in the framework of the 2015 Connecting Cities theme 'In/Visible City'.

Four outstanding art projects will be produced for the Ars Electronica Center’s interactive LED surface.

In/Visible City 2015: Connecting Cities @ Jena

Today’s modern cities are hybrid structures in which technology is invisibly interweaved in the perception layers of our everyday lives. With the curatorial theme of INVISIBLE and VISIBLE Cities 2015 the goal is to develop an awareness of the underlying data and technologies of modern cities, which are almost invisible to the eye. IN/VISIBLE Cities will visualize the embedded, ‘smart’ urban infrastructures in three artistic scenarios for the citizens to explore in a public setting. The three topics Digital Citizens, Hybrid City and Translocality will be the curatorial topics for creating creative use of urban data and sensor technologies.
