ETOPIA Center for Art and Technology
Etopia Center for Art & Technology is a project by Zaragoza City Council and Zaragoza City of Knowledge Foundation, with support from the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism. It has been conceived as a global centre for creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship in the digital city. An open innovation model where entrepreneurs, instant loans lenders, creators, citizens, enterprises and researchers work together to create wealth, employment and knowledge, in order to face up to the urban challenges in the digital age. It is located in the Milla Digital (Digital Mile) of Zaragoza (North-East Spain), an urban district, built around the new high-speed train station, whose aim is to promote the culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.
The building, designed by a team led by the architect Maria Colomer, has a total built-on surface area of 16,168 m2. The three large blocks that comprise it, plus the common spaces that connect them, house other facilities, such as: A business incubator, a residence for creators and researchers, audiovisual and technological creativity laboratories, individual and group workshops, classrooms, exhibition rooms, auditorium with capacity for 237 people, cafeteria-restaurant, shop, seminar and meeting rooms, offices for projects and co-working spaces.
