International Forum of Media Arts City 2014 “Aesthetics of Mediation: Creativity in an Age of Social Media”
In November 2013, Sapporo became a member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network as a "City of Media Arts". A media arts city senses the breath of the city and arbitrates the challenges of the future. The aesthetic, sensing the city, is a vital organ in relation to our recognition and communication.
Sapporo Media Arts Lab (SMAL.jp), new partner of Connecting Cities Network is hosting together with the City of Sapporo the UNESCO Media Arts City Conference ' International Forum of Media Arts City 2014 - “Aesthetics of Mediation: Creativity in an Age of Social Media”.
During the International Forum of Media Arts City in Sapporo Speakers will discuss various topics to solve future urban challenges with media arts, because these are issues that will occur in every city of the world and become our common challenges in the future. In order make cities an appropriate media for the people, we step up to the plate in facing many challenges.
In this framework Susa Pop presents Connecting Cities as an Innovative Case Study and Media Arts Strategy of EU as well as discuss about Cities and Media, and its Future Prospective together with Mr. Max Haiven, Mr. Hiroyuki Ito Ms. Magdalena Taube and Mr. Takashi Takeda on September 30th 2014.
The Conference takes place during the Sapporo International Art Festival 2014. The Sapporo Odri 500m Underground Walkway Gallery - which is part of the Sapporo Art Festival - is a permanent facility and used as a platform for local creativity to promote the city’s cultural and artistic activities in Japan and overseas. It is also used to showcase works by Japanese and international artists in order to provide locals with opportunities to come in contact with a variety of artworks.
